You know you’re a 90s kid if…
Boy Meets World was the show that defined a 90s kid from 1993 to 2000. You know you’re a 90s kid if you ever watched Boy Meets World, if you ever wanted to name your daughter Topanga, if you ever wanted a friendship like Cory and Shawn’s, or if you ever wanted a love like Cory and Topanga’s. These are just a few of the Boy Meets World references on the popular You Know You’re A 90s Kid If… lists circulating the web.
This week, Disney started discussing a possible sequel to the popular 90s television show Boy Meets World with the working title Girl Meets World. The show would center around Cory and Topanga’s preteen daughter. Danielle Fishel (Topanga Lawrence) and Ben Savage (Cory Matthews) are already being asked about their interest in the project. The cast has kept close since the end of the 7-year show and it would not be a far leap to say that if Fishel and Savage are in, so is the rest of the cast.
The show could take on a Degrassi-like life of it’s own, continuing on for what seems like forever as generation after generation of Matthews live, love, and learn before America’s eyes. Appearances from characters such as Cory’s parents or a visit to Chubbie’s would appease to the 18 to 30-year-olds clamoring to The Disney Channel to watch their dreams of a Boy Meets World reunion come to life.
Original mastermind behind ABC’s TGIF sitcom, Michael Jacobs, is linked to the project, but nothing is official yet. Casting has not started nor has any talk of a pilot episode begun. Everything is in its developmental stage, but that is not to say the so-called sequel won’t happen. After all, every great television show began in a developmental stage as well.
